Alright folks - Paul Ware tribute Saturday
it's your friendly Stokie again. Hope you are well.
Still look back fondly at my weekend in your cracking city last year. Great times.
Last week a Stoke City legend passed away. Paul Ware was only 42 - he had contracted brain cancer for 2 years and left behind a wife and 2 kids.
I was lucky to interview Paul and his family last November. A more perfect family you couldn't meet. Inspirational, and I am going to his funeral next Tuesday.
On Saturday I assume there will be a minutes silence or applause before the game. Paul's family will also be there. I know Norwich are amongst the most decent supports in the land but I just thought I'd give you a heads-up on what is happening.
Warey was a player who played for our club as we would want to. Unbelievable effort, honesty, integrity and with a sheer joy of being a professional footballer. A player that every club has and a diamond amongst the ego-driven lot that inhabit football in 2013.
What you will see/hear/not hear on Saturday is 100% genuine - the man is loved by every Stokie, he scored the goal that send us to Wembley in 92 after 20 years away.
His lovely daughters have written an article for my mag (DUCK magazine) before he was taken from us. A beautiful article. I will be selling it near the club shop. Come and say hello - hunk/ace clobber etc ; )
Safe journey for those coming up, and I reckon a point apiece wouldn't be the worst result in the world.
