One possibility which you're ignoring

is that the last thing any player wants is a reputation as a trouble-maker in the dressing room. That way, they'd be the first out of the door when the new manager comes in, and no-one decent would want them, either.

So the smart thing to do if you want rid of the manager is to publically and vocally back him, but do sufficiently badly on the pitch to make sure he gets hs marching orders.

Actually though, I don't really think they want him sacked. I think the problem is essentially that he's assembled a really s**t squad, and we're seeing the consequences every week.

That's why he should be sacked.
