Football 365 - Norwich review

Player Of The Season: Damien Francis
Combative, competitive and with an eye for goal - the former Wimbledon midfielder has been a workhorse in the centre of the Canaries' midfield, which has often been a pretty thankless task this season. Already attracting interest from Premiership clubs and you can't really blame them, unless they saw him having a 'mare against Fulham on Sunday of course...

Most Improved Player: Darren Huckerby
Not 'improved' as in better than last season, but 'improved' as in better than last time around in the Premiership. For so long dismissed as 'too good for Division One/Championship but not good enough for the Premiership', he was certainly more than good enough this season. Though ironically, this time his teammates were not. Pushed out onto the left in a 4-5-1 formation, he still scored six Premiership goals, but made more - including all four in that memorable 4-4 with Boro. It's a shame the Premiership has lost him again.

Hope For The Future: Dean Ashton
Nigel Worthington took a massive gamble on paying ?3m for a 21-year-old striker with no Premiership experience. But it very nearly paid off. His goals were the reason Norwich were still in the relegation battle on the final day of the season and his goals could well be the reason Norwich will come back up again...if they can keep hold of him.

The Letdown: Thomas Helveg
Impressive at Euro 2004 the very, very experienced Dane was supposed to add some much-needed nous to the Norwich back line. Instead he drifted in and out of the team, picking up as many bookings as he made tackles - clearly struggling to cope with the hectic pace of the Premiership. Enjoyed something of a renaissance in midfield towards the end of the season, but he will certainly not look back on his first English season with too much glowing pride.

Manager's Report: Nigel Worthington
Garnered a great deal of praise for trying to play football in the Premiership when most teams were resorting to long-ball bullying tactics, and his signing of Ashton was almost a masterstroke. They may have gone down, but Worthington has equipped himself well.
