How the hell do you motivate them?

I thought as a professional footballer its part of the job to motivate themselves to play well.

But as manager you have two options though - the carrot or the stick. The players are already paid shed loads so the carrot won't work. So it's got to be the stick. I'd tell them all they've got extra training everyday starting at 6am until they start performing.

I would also demand they gave last weeks wages to charity as a mark of sorrow for their complete ineptness today.
