never has so so much media coverage been generated by so little of, well, anything really. He's a classic symbol of modern celebrity culture. If he hadn't married a famous pop star he'd just be another good-but-not-great footballer now retired into obscurity
He hasn't done anything really noteworthy on or off the field for about 10 years.
