My thoughts on yesterday and the transfer window
I do feel that on balance we have been let down a bit by the club. not necessarily just on the Hooper front although I do feel (just my personal opinion based on what i have seen and read) that had we put in a more credible bid earlier in the window and taken a bit more of a calculated risk we probably could have signed him.
Where i feel a bit more let down though is that once again we have been presented with ticket prices rises, asked to renew months before we know what league we are going to be in and told by Mcnally that every penny available goes into the team yet in the season where premier league survival is absolutely paramount and where the need for a bit of extra quality has been evident of late we have basically spent nothing in the January transfer window and are gambling a bit on Becchio and Kamara. of course all signings are a gamble and i hope one or both of them comes off but some are more of a gamble than others!
Of as much concern for me is the failure to land Davies or A N other CB since it is so clear that whenever Bassong doesn't play we are a shambles at the back and that Barnett and bennett are not up to it. I just don't really understand why we ended up scrambling around on the last day of the window and being held to ransom on that front as well.
I think/hope we may just about have enough to stay up but i feel its going to be very close and it has been made a bit harder than it should have been by our failure in both windows to get players in that we obviously wanted. If we go down then Mcnally will rightfully have to take the flak.
