It's hard to be objective after a severe tonking

I just want to chip in on your point 3: I don't think his tactics are necessarily negative, I just think they're very limited. Two weeks on the spin, now, he's hung a player out to dry. Last week, Jacko was asked to play a role that few of us thought him suited for, and he struggled. Yesterday, Benno, having done enough in his correct position, I think rightfully earned a start - but he was played on the left, and he didn't contribute very much.

The effect has been that we've played a man short. No, tha's not fair, but we have deliberately weakened ourselves by playing people where they can't be effective. If you like playing 451 but you haven't got an effective lone striker, then don't play 451.

he's got to be able to change it. He's got to be able to identify that he hasn't the ingredients to make up the side in his preferred way, so he ought to come up with a different setup.
