What is the UK publics perception of all these celebs dragged into the Savile scandal?

Obviously I only know what I read about them on the internet but some of the allegations seem a bit odd?

From the Freddie Starr one apparently he is claimed to have groped a girl 40 years ago.

And now she comes forward yet doesn't go to the police but goes to the papers/media.

Im not saying there is no substance to any of the allegations but we have already had one person wrongly accused. Probably won't be the last.
