Ryanair to Shannon. 20 mins from Limerick. And probably the cheapest if you're

flexible with flights. you could fly into any of Shannon, Dublin or Cork though really and drive there - motorways are f**king brilliant in Ireland thanks to EU grants, and nobody uses them.

Otherwise RailSail with Irish Ferries to Dun Laoghaire for about ?90, then hire a car there and drive across.

Limerick itself if fairly non-descript to be honest. Take time to go down to Kerry, up to Galway, etc.
