UX paradigm shift
As I work in the meeja it's good for me to immerse myself in what Da Peeps, esp Da Yoof is likely to be using. Vista was insufficiently different from XP (and obviously crapper - XP was really good) so didn't bother. 7 was a natural upgrade and 8 brings the tiles. It's just an environmental thing but it helps my intuition if I'm just used to what the cutting edge hipsters are used to, daddio. Rather than put myself in others' experience I'm there already. And yes I do have a tablet device, etc...
Say, do you dig them Village People? It's a stone groove.
