I would think in just about every recent war one of the main strategies has been

to take control of the airwaves or prevent the enemy propaganda being spread. I can see precisely what he's saying if the station in question was spreading propaganda and fueling resistance.

Yes it harsh but then what probably can;t be quantified is how many extra people join a conflict or how long a conflict can be prolonged if the propaganda war is lost.
