I don't think it's fair to blame Apple for you not knowing what a tablet is for. It's a

wonderful tool and the best tablet out there by a mile (all things considered including available software). It's certainly not been caught up to anywhere near what the iPhone has.

But it isn't a PC, nor is it meant to be.

If you want an instant-on device with a genuine 10 hour usage battery life, able to watch live TV, movies streamed or stored locally, play music, store and read hundreds of books, able to quickly check FB, Twitter, Wrath, internet banking etc etc then you're far better off with an iPad, but for work you're best off with a PC, whether that be a laptop or desktop.

Had you looked at a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, I'd have given the same answers except the software is a bit crap (and the choice not as large).
