funny thing is.....

as the brits were developing this new-fangled world military changing piece of equipment, so were the japs, at exactly the same time!

the bi-plane would be pulled out, wings folded back, of the hangar, winched off the side of the sub, and launched for recon.... great idea!

tradegy struck when the captain was trying to perfect the timings of launching the plane, and the hanger roller dorrs where opened too soon....waves flooded the hangar and sent the sub down with loss of all life except the two pilots. Today the remains of the crew are still inside the conning tower, which was sealed up by welding, along with a hatch from the sub to the hanger....

I've dived it 3 times now, amazing... last month was the first time I ventured into and around the hangar....pitch black and very very ery (well it IS at 36-36m deep!)
