That's called turbo cider. I've got a couple of demijohns in the cellar.

I forget the exact recipe, but it'll be a bit rough if you just use apple juice.

You want a few litres of apple juice, a finely chopped cooking apple, and a mug of strong black tea made with two or three teabags (seriously) for tannin. You can buy tannin as an additive, but it's not as cheap as a mug of tea.

Boil up the chopped apple with the tea (to kill any wild yeasts on the apple) and add to the apple juice. Add a sachet of cider yeast (costs about 50p) and leave in an airing cupboard for a couple of weeks to ferment. Syphon the cider off the muck in the bottom of the container and put into old plastic lemonade bottles with a bit of sugar, and screw the kids on tight. In a week or so you've got 5% cider that might not make you blind.

It's quite nice actually, if you like cider. It can be a bit hit-and-miss getting the balance between sweet and dry, depending on what you like.

I'll dig out the real recipe if you like.
