The reason that Holt stands out - for me at least - is that the spotlight was always going

to be on him following his handing in of a transfer request and the generally poor way in which he handled contract negotiations. Following all that pre-season crap, and having been given the three years he wanted, he owed it to the club and the supporters to do his best, and he repays everyone by turning up unfit. It also begs the question how did the club let him get away with it, and why was he selected?

Anyway, I do agree with you that Holt was not to blame for today and that had someone else had his shirt the outcome would be no different. But it's not surprising he has been singled out after his behaviour since the end of last season.
