Short version

- Call 0300 222 0000 at 0900 tomorrow - they are open on Sundays - there is no other way to get an appointment and hence a fast passport

- From looking around the quickest it looks like you can get this done is to have a passport early afternoon Monday. Hopefully that's in time.

- Hopefully your Dad's somewhere you can get in without a visa. If not call the relevant Embassy as soon as you can. You have no worries in Europe, for example; for the US there's a webform but you need to have your passport before you can fill it out.

- If you need advice on how to get to a particular country fast post up here. A number of us travel a lot with work and know how to get places when needs must.

No words of mine will help, but please know me and mine are thinking of you. Nothing really prepares us for the loss of a parent. It does get better - but slowly.

If you can get to him, try to make sure the last time you have with him is a happy time. If you don't make it, any father knows his son loves him and loves his son, and if you don't get to say goodbye you can at least know he knew that. I'm really sorry you're going through this mate.
