The point is not whether he's any good or not, but whether we need him over and above, say, midfielders. Was it a priority at the time? Is it a priority now? I don't think so. Of course, there's something to be said for an experienced goalscorer; but I think it's glaringly obvious that's not where our problems are right now (or when we signed him) and especially since he was clearly signed as a backup for Ashton (or for aforementioned emergency match situations).
