Replacement managers

It occurs to me that most managers are crap.

I've made the point before but here goes again: apart from the odd truly good one, most managers stand or fall on getting lucky with a centre-forward. When that striker loses form or is sold, the previously-promising boss folds neatly back into the pack of the unremarkable. Ron Atkinson got lucky with Regis and lived on it for a decade and more.

I'm pissed off at Worthy, no question, but as T07 suggests I'd very much doubt we'll see the back of him very soon (I think it'd take a few serious cartings, which can't be ruled out). And there is a lot of truth in the idea that sticking with a boss generally pays better dividends than repeated change. Generally.

Me, I really don't know what's for best. Yes, he's maddening; no, he doesn't seem to learn *anything*, *ever*; and yes he's managed to turn a strong position into an almost unbelievably feeble one. He has royally f**ked up, on an increasing basis since the start of the Prem (I'm still convinced he thought it was all about himself, with the players mere bystanders).

But unless a really decent candidate became available (and I'm loth to include Burley in that, but only because I'm seriously bigoted), I can't see the point in changing one flawed ex-pro for any other....... unless the players all got together and announced that THEY think he should go. Which they shouldn't, of course, but I do wonder how many of them currently blame HIM for how bad THEY've been lately.
