Beautifully simple and yet totally heartfelt.

Nice one BGH.

My Dad passed away from bowel and prostate cancer in December 2010. Mercifully his passing came quite quickly as he was in excruciating pain and suffering terribly. His last real memories of his beloved Norwich was watching us beat the scum 4-1 on the telly. He was the master of understatement, and his retort to our incredible victory was a simple "jolly good".

My Dad's Dad had made him a City fan, and in turn he made sure I would follow family tradition by dragging me off to watch my first game at Carrow Road on 20th April 1974 against Burnley. We won 1-0.

My grandmother used to attend matches regularly with my Dad, but when she became too frail to go anymore in the early 80s, I inherited her season ticket in the old Main Stand, seat and rented red cushion (which I did throw on the pitch after one particular dismal defeat). When that burned down, my Dad being a huge creature of habit eventually renewed the season tickets in the newly built City Stand in exactly the same seats as they'd had in the old stand... J66 and J67 (Cathedral section).

I passed my driving test in the Autumn 1984, and was proud as punch to be able to drive him to Wembley for the Milk Cup Final against Sunderland in 1985. We shared some of our best times together when Norwich City were involved. It was a constant topic of conversation between us... the highs... the lows... we went through it all together as father and son.

I miss him terribly too. I'm sad that he's not around to see us back in the Premier League, but that said I do often visit his grave and offer a little prayer to him to see if he can make sure Norwich continue to do all right. It seems to be working too, as does persuading my son to become the fourth generation of our family to follow the mighty yellas.

Yes, Dad's have a lot to answer for... but am I ever thankful that he instilled my passion for Norwich City Football Club.
