Just go for Hughton
Birmingham are in a financial mess and would struggle to keep him. Why make a list of candidates when you can just headhunt the best man for the job?
Hughton's positives:
Was able to cope under pressure at Newcastle while Mike Ashley undermined him, failing to appoint him as full time manager until a few months into the 09/10 season.
Has premier league experience and did well in that league before being unfairly sacked by Newcastle.
Has european experience, only lost one game in the europa league with Birmingham while winning three out of eight.
Has a championship league winners trophy on his cv and also got Birmingham into the play offs despite having a descimated squad and a ridiculously piled up fixture list.
He can work under financial restraints, he wasn't able to sign many players for fees to replace the quality that left Birmingham players during last season, yet Birmingham were still very competitive.
Chris Hughton for me.
