From Charlie Wyett?s story

?Lambert clashed with the board after being refused permission to speak to Aston Villa, even though there is a clause in his contract stating he could talk to another Premier League side?
and
?Villa chief executive Paul Faulkner and owner Randy Lerner are adamant Lambert was a free agent when they approached him after he quit Carrow Road following his row with his board, as SunSport revealed?
My simple view of this is that someone?s wrong or the article is a distortion of the facts. Lambert can either talk to Villa or he can?t. (Of course agents can talk)
So who?s is wrong? As Lambert has not talked I?m thinking that the contract is watertight and there?s a clause in it which prevent this.
We?re holding the cards as regards contact and compensation which he and Villa do not like this.
