Rodgers Over Lambert?
As I see it, a lot of clubs and suits at clubs want more than a Manager these days, they want a personality, and, if lucky, personality with a touch of personality.
That was a lot of the thinking behind the Redkanpp for England call, especially from our lads from the press.
Martinez and Rogers are media friendly-give good interviews, have a "sexy" background (Rodgers with Chelsea, Martinez as a Spaniard-by lazy definition cultured in whatever he does!) and, well, they look good, sharp, they're good PR for the game and their clubs-if they are competent in what they do, they become irrestible.
Lambert is more than competent in his-but he came to us via Colchester and Wycombe, he is, also, well-the Norwich manager, not Swanselona or the sexy Spaniard at Wigan.
He also isn't one for the media and isn't overly fond of same, so is hardly a footballing personality-he's just a good footballing man. If he drive a Ferrari and dated leggy blonds, he'd be Chelsea manager by now.
The fact he's undertstated and modest does work a little in our favour. But I would like to think that, regardless, we could put this all to bed soon-preferably he confirming he is not going anywhere, along with Holty signing that new deal. By tomorrow. Thankyou.
