Although I'm now wondering if I'm being typically obstinate

I haven't got Facebook for two reasons:
1 - my daughter's on it and I'd hate for her to think I might be snooping, not that I think she'd care much
2 - I've read that you have to enter all your personal details to create an account, which I haven't researched but I do know it refused to believe that I am Mr A A from Afghanistan

Alright, 3 reasons - I'm a contrary obstinate old stickinthemud.

But the Paste above suggests one can open an account and leave it dormant. Can i do that without entering even so much as a genuine e-mail account?
