Clarification Of The Europa League Qualification Places
5th in the Premier League automatically gets a Europa League spot.
The winners of the Carling Cup get a Europa League spot. If the winners finish in the European places, then 6th in the Premier League will be given a Europa League spot.
The winners of the FA Cup get a Europa League spot. If the winners finish in the European places, then 7th in the Premier League will be given a Europa League spot.
Just to confirm, the runners-up in both the Carling Cup and FA Cup DO NOT qualify for the Europa League.
Many people think the runners-up in the FA Cup gain a Europa League place, but this isn't true.
