The iPad isn't really intended for that kind of thing though Ceebeebies. But I would say
that in the space of 2 years we'll see that OSX will be replaced by a hybrid operating system like a mixture between OSX and iOS and will run on all the Macs. And that the same will happen with Windows 8.x
And that will mean devices which are more suited to stuff like CAD indeed using touchscreen interfaces (although I doubt it will ever 100% replace other input devices).
iPads aren't there for everything. I don't use them for long documents, presentations or anything. I use them for multimedia and for quick, simple operations which are 95% of the things you actually do. And for that, they are perfect.
