Her Wiki entry (whcih is quite funny) describes her as a "businesswoman, socialite, television personality, model, and actress". It also adds, revealingly, "Kardashian first rose to fame in February 2007 when she starred in a sex tape with R&B singer Ray J"

Then her career followed a familiar trajectory - Playboy, ever-more-famous boyfriends, TV, own brand of scents etc etc

I guess she is exceptionally sexy and photogenic, and not shy of getting her kit off, and linked with lots of famous men, and therefore (people being what theya re) newsworthy and therefore commercially valuable
