I think it could be because

most managers distance themselves from failure so they sit down more when their team is losing and when they feel they don't have much chance of getting anything from the game.

Next time, have a look to see managers off their seats when they are doing well in a game against a big club. It's because they want to be seen to be as part of the success.

Oh and he probably wants Keane to stay in his job for as long as possible so that Blackburn are distracted and keep dropping points.

We are now mammoth so Lambert probably feels that we should be getting points against Blackburn and so not be getting too carried away. At the end of the game, Lambert tried very hard to hide a smile.

It is a bit like when an athlete has just run fast in a heat, and then tries very hard to make it looks as if he's not out of breath, so that he psychs out future opposition.
