Liverpool Yesterday
A very fine day of football yesterday, for a number of reasons. I do like going to Anfield and Goodison because they are proper football grounds with an atmosphere around them that you just don't get nowadays at the 'flat-pack' stadia. I also like the friendly banter with genuinely knowledgeable fans rather than the 'tourists' that we are now meeting at our away games (I had a long conversation with a Liverpool fan at Manchester Piccadilly who was asking about Zak and Pichecco).
However, inside Anfield, after a very respectful gesture from The Kop to the Hillsbrough 96 (that I completely understand having been at Villa Park on that day in 1989) the noise was mainly from the Away End. Our support was superb, and mentioned in today's Observer.
"By the halfway point of the first half the Norwich fans felt sufficiently emboldened to ask where the famous Anfield atmosphere was. Another 10 minutes and they were making comparisons with libraries, and they had a point."
We had a point, yes. And we got a point, yeees. And another great day out for Canaries on the road.
See you all at Aston Villa!
