High wages are good and bad for the game.

The bad is obvious.......

The good is that its highly unlikley you see rigged games at the highest levels (PL) when the players have so much to lose.

In sports where players are paid much less they are more open to corruption as the money won through betting can be very significant compared to their income. (risk/reward)
