not many teams play with a flat 4-4-2 these days (well flat midfield 4 anyway) mainly due to it being a bit out-dated and predictable. Spurs did last season for many games but still found room for Modric who provided the creativity from the centre and they didn't just rely on Bale and Lennon.

Only ever thing is to play Wes as a second striker so he can do the role Martin did alright at yesterday of dropping of and linking with midfield to help build attacks. Again this is what VDV does at Spurs when the play 4-4-2.
