For those who hate stats and tilt over predictions dont read this post.
Just for fun I quickly added Pilks into a fantasy lineup.
Lets say for chuckles our stating line up is........
Ruddy
R Martin
Barnett
Whitbread
De Laet
Crofts
Bennet
Pilkington
Hoolahan
Morrison
Holt
I put in each of their strike rates (goals per APP) for last season (regardless of division) and multiplied by 38 games
Its comes out to errrrrrr..... 89 goals over 38 games (88.97 to be exact!)
Man Utd only scored 78 goals last season and Spurs only 55!
Obviously its going to be much tougher but realistically if we want to stay up each of the players (on average)has to acheive at least 50% of the strike rate they acheived outside the PL.
We have to be looking at a realistic target of 40-45 goals
Over the past 10 PL seasons only 3 teams (out of 30) have been relegated while scoring more than 45 goals
(Sunderland stayed up in 2001 scoring just 29 goals!)
