Thats strange? Is nobody building new houses for first time buyers?

In the US they overbuilt in a lot of places because of the ease the lenders gave out money.
Also in the US, land is cheaper on average because of supply and demand.
There are some rural areas in the US that have prices unheard of in the UK.

Want land for 120 quid an acre?

Would seem to be a huge gap in the market in the UK for someone willing to build affordable housing on a large scale. ( ie big communities)
