Aye, but it comes down to more than just number of fans
I suppose it's all about perception of a team's expected level. For example, as small as they are, Fulham are now seen as an established top flight side. Same for Barnsley and Donny, albeit one tier down.
As for the last time both teams were in the third tier, I've no idea - not in most people's living memory I guess.
