A friend of mine once did that.

Being 'liked' or friended on Facebook meant absolutely sod all to me but I knew it meant a lot to her and so I took it as either a) a genuine attempt at an insult or b) an attempt to get a response from me, telling her that I was sorry (I was angry with her over something very serious she'd done, which is still having repercussions on my life and which I am still waiting for her to apologise for but who cares).

My response was to act like I didn't even notice, I've got better things to do with my time than complain about being deleted from someone's friends list and other genuine friends I don't get to see often enough. Twelve months later she gave up being petty and added me again. This I also neglected to comment on.
