Groans at yet another example of lazy journalism
Several years ago, wasn't it Waghorn who defined the phrase "citizen journalists" in a rather derogatory way?
Then, the phrase "internet message boards were awash with speculation" entered the fray.
Now, the news is broken elsewhere and the lazy arsed journos follow. Or at least they follow the false "rumours circulating on social networking sites" and make non-news out of them.
So the professional scribes deride the "citizen journos" on one hand then spend their days filling their column inches by using the stuff they post.
By the way, I hope however that the hacks' change in empahsis and rising use of "social networking sites" does not mean a slow and lingering death for "internet messages boards" such as this one. The Wrath will always be the first place I come for my false rumours.
