Placebo effect is well known. It's why double blind trials were invented so that the effect on clinical trials is minimised.

If someone wants to unnecessarily spend 30 quid to feel better that's up to them; but since it *is* only a placebo effect (at best), I'd counsel against anyone else doing the same as they're most unlikely to receive the same benefit. And they're likely lining some charlatan's pocket
