The FA are in a tricky spot here for a number of reasons

The rule is designed to stop clubs who have nothing to play for fielding an under strength squad in situations which may be important to other clubs.

By the letter of the law if you leave out 1 player who you could have played who is deemed one of your best players you are breaking E20 as written.

The argument Holloway is curently making is that who is to say which is his best 11................

He actually has a point! , which most will hate!
Most of the players in his Villa 11 are just as or more experienced than the players he left out.

If he would have gotten thumped the other night it would have made the decision much easier.

The fact his team was very competitive is a tricky spot plus they have to wait and see the side he puts out vs West Ham.

If he only makes 4-5 changes then its really tricky to charge him.

The problem holloway has that he will probably be the person they take a stand against rather than one of the big clubs or their next England manager.

But if they take action against Holloway it will look like they are wacking the small teams who have such a big disadvantage to start with.

I am guessing they will levy a suspended fine (meaning no fine!) behind closed doors to make the whole thing go away quietly.
