and Arnold 'Blondie' Walker were seconded to a couple of Yank outfits - the 101st Airborne Division and the 82nd Airborne Division, helping to maintain their 1.432 C-47s - mainly to do with the top bits of the wings.

'Pongo' Norris, our old mucker from the 1st Airborne Division, of which we were part, had just returned from a bit of 'R and R' in Blighty after some shrapnel had taken his plums off just south of Nijmegen during Operation Market Garden.

Whilst in a hospital in Kent, he met up with a chap called 'Batty' Knackers from The Baker Street Irregulars who had been working, on Churchill's orders, to create a breakfast snack for our lads on the front line. Pongo managed to swipe some samples out of Batty's locker whilst he was having a heart attack and brought them over to Holland.

'Tickle' Philips and a few of the others used to crush them up with pondwater and make some sort of c**tish hooch. Little did we know that Marmite would become the success that it is today.

One night me and Pongo were on a black op on the Highway 69 across the Maas, we were so stacked on bobbins and clean nose, that Pongo lost his footing on the bank and went in.

A group of yodellers found him in 1963 living in a submerged weather balloon in the Wilhelmina Canal at Son, he was dressed as a dancing bear and was surrounded by 13 ponces from Bonn. He had grown gills and flippers and become amphibious. His penis had wilted.
