Oh wise and all knowing Wrath (and Conker) some advice please

As posted last night, need to get my Sky looked at, f**k all signal for a foo days now. Done all the reset the LNB etc etc.

I hear Conkers advice about threatening to cancel, my concern is I think it might be our fault its fooked.
Father in Law kindly did the edging on the back lawn when we were on hollyibobs a while back, and managed to nick one of the cables when he did!
I 'repaired it' but I wonder if that's the issue now, its degraded.
Or it could be the dish, which i don't think was properly insulated when installed anyway.

Additionally, has anyone here moved from Sky to Virgin? If so any regrets?
Thinking of switching as Virgin do our phone and broadband. Plus, next door have a f**k off big tree which severely limits where we can put the dish anyway to get a signal. Signal is always s**te in rain or wind and to be honest I'm wondering if its worth the hassle anymore............
