something about the cost being high, but Ruddy is a permenant signing, he's ours, not someone who will leave at the end of the season.

Something along those lines that intimated, to me at least, the fee had reached a level where it made more sense to spend it on purchasing a contracted player, than just a one season stop gap.
As good as FF is.

It is the right decision too.
