and using your brain at that particular moment to try and out-wit the batsman.

Warne could bowl three (or maybe even four !) different deliveries without any real noticeable change in his action, so he was looking at getting the batsman out in any number of ways.

I don't know what sort of level you mean by amateur but most of the spinners i've played with will just bowl their stock delivery and try and get the batman out by a)bowling a jaffa or b) frustrating the batman to the extent that he'll then do something stupid and try and Moo one out of the ground completely cocking it up.

I've played against spinners who turn it both ways, but if you manage to stay in long enough you can spot the different deliveries a mile off.

As Warne has said, It's an art-form that takes years to perfect, day after day, hour after hour. I've only ever had a go at spin in the nets - just getting one to pitch was a triumph for me
