I had an attack of gout a couple of years ago.

It was only mild but really painful, and one of my big toes swelled up as did the side of my foot. At the time I was healthy, not too much beer etc.

I put it down to work as the three or so weeks beforehand I had been in client workshops all day sitting down for hours upon end. The lunches they had provided were lovely, really rich sandwiches, many of which were filled with prawns, salmon and I did eat quite a few! We rarely have fish at home as Mrs KC gets sick at the smell of it. It was a real lunchtime treat so maybe my sea-food overindulgence caused it.

I ate salads and drunk a gallon of water a day for a week and it cleared up fine.
