Klose and Podolski were both born in Poland I think, and Cacau in Brazil.

But then John Barnes was born in Jamaica, Hargreaves in Canada and grew up in Germany, Terry Scummer Butcher in Singapore, etc, but the massive difference over here and in Germany is that we don't even think about that.

They even refer to their Surinamese players as "Suriprofs". They see them as a different nationality even though most were born in Holland (mostly Amsterdam) - Gullit, Seedorf, Davids, Winter, van Bronckhorst, Bogarde, Roy, etc
, and the Moroccan players they simply call Moroccan.

The Germans I spoke to felt the same. Doesn't make any difference to me but today I just noticed who was singing and who was not and it was really 100% either way.
