I've been to both Maui and Kawaii

If you go to Maui, the cycling down Mount Haleakala is something worth doing. Hana is a good place to visit but a scary drive there and back.

Kawaii is a quieter and prettier island.

But at the risk of stating the bleedin obvious it's miles to go, 5 hours + from the west coast of America.
