Green/Helveg Scenario
I have noticed a few comments on the Board about Green being overlooked in favour of Kirkland against Wales. I have to say that I am not really surprised at this. Its nothing to do with Kirkland being a better goalkeeper, I happen to think Green is the superior stopper.
Ericsson once picked Kirkland ahead of Green when Kirkland was actually second choice to Dudek and therefore playing in the Puddle reserves. Liverpool now don't think he is good enough for them and have loaned him out to WBA for the season - now third choice.
Ericsson has also gone on record in the past saying that he didn't look beyond the Prem for his players and it looks as though he has reverted to that thinking.
I think he is effectively telling Green that he needs to be playing at a higher level in much the same way that the Danish Coach told Helveg last season.
All very frustrating for the player because he hasn't done anything wrong. In fact, despite not keeping a clean sheet so far this season his form has been good with excellent saves against Crewe and Palace rescuing a point from each of those games.
