I reckon we need 92 points to secure promotion.

If you look at last year's table at this stage of the season, on average the top six has 4 less points than the teams occupying the top six this year.

Therefore, with 1/4 of the season still to go, it's reasonable to say that this could boost up to 6 points by the end.

Therefore, anything more than 87 was enough last year, so I'd say anything more than 93 will be enough this year.

However, given that there's a lot of top teams facing each other over this period, I'm going to stick my neck on the line and say 91 points will be enough for second place this year.
