He's not your run of the mill politician though

He was Treasurer at the time of the peerage and one of their largest donors (and because he pays next to no tax, it can be argued that the taxpayer effectively subsidises the Tory party). He is currently the Deputy chairman. Companies he owns have also donated serious money to the Tories - the legality of which is being challenged.
