Yeah...
surely it would need to be exactly the diameter of a ball behind the line, (assuming the sensor is right on the edge of the ball and all the way round, I think this may present a problem in itself), or if the sensor is in the middle of the ball, which would make sensing easier, but logistically difficult then a balls radius behind the line.
Good in theory, not convinced it will work in practise.
