Agreed - awards like tonight just devalue it

I've not got anything against Giggs who comes across as a decent bloke for a footballer and a good role model for kids but I don't understand why he got the PFA award having played about 10 games and I don't understand why he was even short listed for this. Having been short listed he was perhaps always in with a good chance because of all the Man United fans and Welsh fans who will have voted but I really don't think he has achieved things equal to a number of the world champions who were on the list nor has he particularly captured the publics imaginiation. He has played a few games, quite well, for Manchester United. So has Jonny Evans!

Lifetime achievement award may be justifed (although to be honest his attitude to playing for Wales was a bit of a disgrace as he barely ever played an away game for them) but sports personality of the year just seems wrong.
