Pele never played European Club Football

although I have no doubt he would have had a massive impact, it is a mark against his claim of being the greatest. If you watch Maradona between 85 - 89 he was untouchable. There is a game I have of him basically beating an almost unbeatable AC Milan side on his own. Having watch extensive amounts of videos of him growing up I think the Maradona circa 86 was the greatest player ever to play the game. I don't think people quite grasp that the Napoli and Argentina sides he played in were fairly average. His partnership with Careca at Napoli however was pretty special at times.
